Stephen R. Buschmann has practiced law for 45 years and has been involved with the General Assembly for 43 Sessions. Steve was a Senior Legislative Analyst at the Indiana Legislative Services Agency in the 1977 – 79 Sessions drafting tax and finance legislation and the school formula. When he left to go into private practice, he was hired on contract for the 1980 through 1988 sessions to serve as Legal Advisor to the Chairman of Ways and Means Committee. Steve began the government affairs practice at his law firm in 1989 and has engaged in that practice since. Steve’s clients have primarily been government related organizations and professional associations. In 2007, the Superintendent of the Indiana State Police named him an Honorary State Trooper for his work on State Police issues. In addition to the government affairs practice, Steve maintained an active legal practice primarily in the areas of real estate, government representation and homeowners’ associations.
Steve graduated from Purdue University in 1971 where he received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. He received his JD, cum laude from the Indiana University Indianapolis Law School in 1974. Prior to working at the Legislative Services Agency, he spent two years as a Deputy Attorney General in the property tax area. |
